The International Geographical Olympiad (iGeo) Committee are trying to disseminate the geographical knowledge worldwide. Therefore, Bangladesh is going to enrol in the coming international competition that is scheduled for 8-14 August 2023 in Indonesia under the auspices of the International Geographical Union Olympiad Task Force.

Accordingly, an event is going to be organized to select outstanding candidates for the Olympiad. This is the first time from Bangladesh for the International Olympiad. This year an event for the higher secondary level are going to be organized to participate the iGeo for Indonesia.

To be involved into this event, the following requirements should be prerequisite:

• Interested students must apply through their current institution (School/College).
• Students from Classes XI and XII including A level students can be participated in this event.
• The age limit must be within 16-19 years (on or before June 30, 2023).
• Students must not currently in the tertiary level education in the university.
• Students have the geographical background, if not must have sufficient knowledge in Geography at the Intermediate Level (up to Level 12 in Bangladesh).
• Since there is a time constraint for the international competition, schools/colleges authorities are requested to send not more than two (2) best possible candidates from their institutions on or before 10 July 2023 (manzurulh@gmail.com).
• The Bangladesh Geography Olympiad Committee will finally select the candidates through an examination process.
• Since financial support yet to confirm, students must have to keep in their mind about self-finance for participating the International Geography Olympiad. The estimated cost could be about US$2200 including registration fee, Visa fee, travel costs, and other local expenses.
